At the Belmont Historical Society meeting on April 18th our speakers were members Clarence
and Millie Jones. They told us about their experiences during WWII. Millie was a Wave shipped here after basic training at
Hunter College, N.Y. to work on the Bombe. This was the project that broke the code that helped end the war. The Waves worked
at NCR and lived at Sugar Camp. Clarence was working at NCR and that's how they met. He joined the Army, had his basic training
in Alabama, and then was shipped overseas.
The meeting was open to the public and was held at Lohrey Center, 2366 Glenarm Avenue. For more information
